Letter Hex
GUIDE
How to play

The basics

Trace any direction

Link tiles that touch — up, down, sideways or diagonally, forwards or backwards. Use each tile only once per word.

Fill the bar, earn stars

Every word you find adds to your score. Pass each mark to light a star — up to three.

Mind your words

Each level gives you a set number of words. Make them count — longer words score more.

Special tiles

Star tile

Use it in a word for bonus points.

Blossom tile

Clears the tiles around it when you use it.

Wave tile

Clears its whole row when used in a word.

Lightning tile

Clears its whole column when used in a word.

Wildcard tile

Stands in for any letter you need.

Crystal tile

Use it in a word to collect a crystal.

Frozen tile

Use it once to thaw it, then again to clear it.

Cairn

A fixed stone with no letter. It stays on the board until removed — clear it with a nearby Wave, Lightning, or Blossom.

Tips & tricks

Hunt the endings

Endings like -ING, -ED and -ER often sit together on the board. Spot one, then work backwards to grow a long word.

Reshape the board

If an area looks stuck, clear a word beside it — new letters fall in from above and open it back up.

A word is always waiting

Feeling stuck on a fresh board? There’s always at least one good word hiding in the opening layout — take a breath and look again.

Spend your power-ups

Don’t save them for a rainy day. You’ll never need one to win — so use them whenever they’d help.

Go long

Longer words are worth far more than the sum of their letters — one six-letter find beats a couple of short ones.

Put special tiles to work

A Star or Crystal only pays off when you use it in a word — don’t let them sit around.

Echo cleans house

Board drowning in one letter? Echo sweeps every copy away in one go.

Thaw, then clear

Frozen tiles take two words — one to thaw, one to clear. Start on them early so they don’t linger.

Take your time

There are no clocks and no countdowns anywhere in the game. Play at whatever pace feels right.

You can’t fail

No lives, no game overs. Even going past a Daily’s word budget just trims your score — you can always play again.

Replays only help

Come back to any level to finish its bonus goals — the leaderboard keeps only your best, so a replay can never hurt.
